Colossians 3:16-17 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Andwhatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.” The topic of music is a very controversial subject between churches and the beliefs of the individual. As it says in Colossians, we believe in the use of hymns and spiritual songs to teach Biblical truths and focus the heart for worshipping the Lord. All of the music at Cornerstone is used toward the same affect; that through the message of the music, hearts and souls might be saved.
Cornerstone has a dynamic music program. Ranging in age from kindergarten all the way up to the senior saints, there is opportunity for someone of any age to participate in a kid’s musical or an adult cantata. Here at Cornerstone, we strive to do our very best with the talents God has blessed us with. Whether it is by lifting our voice in a song or by using our hands to play an instrument, our goal is to bring honor and glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
“The HEARD” is our kid’s choir program. They meet throughout the school year on Sunday evenings at 5:00pm. From kindergarten age to 6th grade, children come to practice, have fun, and learn spiritual lessons through singing songs and playing hand bells. The adult choir is comprised of high school aged teens and many varying ages of mixed adults. They meet every week at 5:00pm on Sunday evenings to practice a wide variety of styles of music. There are many other groups and soloists within the choir who sing for the worship services and certain special occasions. The main focus of our entire music ministry is to honor and glorify God by preparing the heart for worship through encouraging, message-filled spiritual songs. There is, and always will be, room for more church members who want to use their God-given talents for the Lord in the music ministry.
